In short

The site carries four notices: the information does not replace a doctor, it is not legal advice, prices are indicative, and individual families’ stories do not promise the same result. Below are also the emergency number SAMU 192, how we work with sources and check dates, and how to report a mistake on the site.

Medical information

The information on the site is educational and for reference. It does not replace the advice of a doctor, an obstetrician-gynecologist or a neonatologist. Katerina is a doula and perinatal educator: she is not a doctor, does not diagnose, does not prescribe treatment and does not perform medical procedures (Lei 15.381/2026, art. 4; Lei SC 16.869/2016, art. 2). Help with breastfeeding consists of support and information, and with symptoms you need a doctor. In an emergency, call SAMU (Brazil’s ambulance service) at 192 or go to the nearest maternity hospital.

We are not a law firm and do not give legal opinions. Information about citizenship, residence permits and documents is given in general terms as of the date checked, with links to official sources.

Laws, fees and timelines change, and the decision on each application is made by government bodies: the Polícia Federal (the Federal Police), the Ministério da Justiça (the Ministry of Justice), cartórios (notary and registry offices) and consulates. We do not guarantee any outcome.

For an assessment of your situation, turn to a lawyer (advogado) or the competent authority. General information describes a typical case, and yours may differ, for example because of dual citizenship, a previous criminal record or unusual documents.

The citizenship rules of your country, including whether dual citizenship is allowed and the duty to notify about a residence permit or the citizenship of another country, are set by that country’s law.

Prices

Prices are given as of the date next to them and may change. The final scope of services is set by the contract. Government fees and the cost of medical services are not included in the price unless stated otherwise.

Stories and reviews

Reviews reflect the personal experience of individual families, are published with their consent and do not promise the same result.

What we don’t do

  • We do not promise citizenship, a passport, a residence permit or the timing of getting them: the state decides.
  • We do not give medical recommendations such as “how to feed”, “when to bathe” or “which intervention to refuse”, and we do not recommend medication. Such questions are for a doctor.
  • We do not promise a place in a particular maternity hospital, a particular doctor or a particular course of birth.
  • We do not present ourselves as representatives of government bodies, hospitals or consulates.
  • We do not publish clients’ and children’s stories, names, faces, documents and photos without written consent.

An independent project

The site is not connected with government bodies, the Polícia Federal, hospitals or consulates and does not speak on their behalf. Names of maternity hospitals and agencies are given as reference information, not as advertising or partnership.

How do we work with sources and dates?

On pages about law, documents, medicine and prices we state when and against which sources the text was checked:

  • Checked: the date the text was compared with the sources.
  • Valid until: the date after which the page needs to be re-checked. For legal materials this is 90 days, for medical ones 180.
  • Sources: the texts of laws and the official pages the text is based on.
  • Reviewed by: the name of the specialist, if an outside expert reviewed the material. If this field is absent, there was no such review.

Information that we could not confirm against a primary source is not published or is marked as unconfirmed.

How do I report a mistake?

If you found an inaccuracy or an outdated rule, write through the page “Contact” and attach a link to the source if you have one. We publish the corrected page with a new check date.

What should I do in an emergency?

SAMU 192 works around the clock, and the call costs nothing. Call in life-threatening conditions, including a birth that puts the life of the mother or the baby at risk (see the list from Brazil’s Ministry of Health). With worrying symptoms during pregnancy, contact your Centro de Saúde or the maternity hospital you are linked to.
